Today flexibility is a crucial factor when production companies have to choose the right automation solution. By equipping industrial robots with a vision system, intelligence is applied to the robot thereby making it able to detect and seize items which are carried in a random order and rotation on their own.

In pick ‘n’ place jobs where the robot has to grab items from a tape, machine or palletoften a mechanical fixture is needed that would ensure that the items can be collected from the same position each time. Such fixtures are often expensive but also very inflexible as each item must have its customized fixture. With Kjærgaard’s RobOptic the fixture can be completely omitted as  camera finds the item and sends the coordinates of the its location directly to the robot controller.
